Some forty years ago I got my first puukko knife. It was (and still is) a small J. Marttiini Lynx (Ilves) knife or at least it looked like mini Lynx. Even before my own knife, I had tried some other knives just to learn basic carving skills. My godfather as well as my Mother’s cousin were the main teachers with knife skills. I made those small boats (Kaarnalaiva in Finnish) from pine tree bark and added sail from birch tree bark. I remember a wooden classic Mora from grandma’s kitchen as well as a small clip-point knife from home.
During the years I have bought new knives and also started to study more about different steels and grinds. Currently, I have knives from J. Marttiini, Iisakki Järvenpää, Buck Knives, Ka-Bar, Kizlyar, Victorinox, Mora, Gerber, Cold Steel etc. Here I will present some of those and maybe write even some reviews.

Marttiini Ranger (Old)
Marttiini Ranger knives were and still are marketed as the next generation Leuku knives. This first and small one is a pretty decent all-around knife and easily replaces your everyday carry/puukko knife.
